Devoted family win settlement in cerebral palsy case
Slater and Gordon recently helped the parents of a child with a severe birthing injury causing cerebral palsy gain access to compensation for therapies and activities to help their daughter live a fulfilled life.
Our client
Olivia* suffered a severe injury during birth which resulted in Olivia being diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Her family felt confused as to what they should do but after instructing us, they felt safe throughout the process.
The family didn’t have the financial means to provide Olivia with the help that she needed and struggled with the lack of support and care provision their daughter needed. We were able to secure compensation from the hospital where Olivia was born and negligence had occurred. Olivia’s parents were delighted with this outcome as now their daughter can access specialist therapy, care, rehabilitation, equipment and adapted accommodation so that she can lead a happy and fulfilling life.
The case so far
Yvonne Agnew, our head of clinical negligence said: “I am privileged to deal with many matters of this magnitude and I remain in awe of the dedication and devotion that parents show, often in extremely difficult circumstances and I wish them all the very best for the future.”
Olivia’s parents are proud of how their daughter has overcome so many challenges and relieved that her future is now secure with so many opportunities. They said: “We really are very glad that we took the step to approach Slater and Gordon, and are thankful for their support, hard work and dedication to not just our daughter’s claim, but to our whole family.”
