Get to know Joanne

I qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and have therefore been acting for injured clients for over 30 years. I am an experienced litigation solicitor, specialising in clinical negligence claims.

My experience includes claims against GPs, hospitals, dentists, surgeons, nurses and ambulance service providers etc. On behalf of my clients, I bring claims against both the NHS and private clinicians. However, my areas of expertise are birth and obstetric injuries, delays in cancer diagnosis, orthopaedic injuries (including amputations) and negligent surgical technique. I am based in our London office, where I am a Team Leader and Senior Associate.

Career highlights

I have conducted many high-value catastrophic injury cases, including brain injury and amputation cases. I have also concluded several cerebral palsy cases, many of which had capitalised settlement values of many millions of pounds.

I am currently instructed in a number of catastrophic injury claims following failures in management after suffering a stroke, as well as several lower limb amputation cases. I am also working with a number of families to bring claims on behalf of their severely brain damaged children following avoidable errors made around the time of their birth.

Recognition

I am accredited by the Law Society as having expertise in the field of clinical negligence.

I am also accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) as being a Senior Litigator.

The extra mile

I act as a mentor and occasional competition judge at the University of Law.

I am a member of the Birmingham Medico-Legal Society and am also a regular attendee at meetings of the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers.

I support and work with a number of charities, including Cerebral Palsy Midlands, Menphys (a charity supporting children & young people with disabilities) and NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders.
