Kelly Jackson

Probate Executive

I am a proud member of the WTTP Team here at Slater & Gordon, where we work hard to make sure that our clients receive the best possible service in their time of need.

Get to know Kelly

I have 20 years’ experience working within the legal sector, 18 of those years working in Private Client. I joined Slater & Gordon in November 2023, having worked at high street firms previously, and am based in the Manchester Office.

My role as a Probate Executive means that I take clients instructions in relation to their Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Grant of Representation Applications, to also include administration of estates both taxable and non-taxable.

I completed my Law Degree in 2021 after studying part time for 6 years. Presently, I am studying for my Master's Degree, which includes an SQE preparation course with a view to taking the SQE exams in 2024. Upon completion, I will be a fully qualified solicitor.

Career highlights

I take immense pride in my journey within the legal sector, having embarked on this path at the age of 17 as a legal secretary. Through dedication and perseverance, I was promoted to the role of a Paralegal Assistant before progressing to my current position as a Probate Executive.

My pursuit of a Law Degree was a testament to my commitment, achieved through part-time study over six years while balancing full-time work responsibilities and caring for my three young children. Despite the challenges, my unwavering ambition remains focused on realising my ultimate goal—to qualify as a Solicitor, a culmination of years of hard work and determination.

The extra mile

I have actively participated in free Will Weeks in the past, aimed at raising funds for various local charities. Through these initiatives, I've contributed to supporting organisations such as Christies, St Ann’s Hospice, Dr Kershaws, and the Anthony Seddon Fund, among several others. These events served as opportunities to extend support to these charitable causes, underscoring my commitment to giving back to the community through the legal expertise and services I offer.

What are the legal issues when writing a will?
Writing a will is one of those times when consulting with a solicitor can be essential. It’s possible to do a ‘DIY’ will or use an online service, but the legal issues around wills, inheritance and probate can be complicated - which means that it’s easy to make a mistake.

Many people put off making a will but if you fail to make one, the rules of intestacy will apply. This could potentially leave loved ones without any provisions from the estate and assets distributed to distant family members. Our team of specialist lawyers are experts in all areas of wills, trusts and probate and will ensure that your loved ones are provided for after your death.
